GMAT: Graduate Management Admission Test

GMAT: Graduate Management Admission Test

GMAT is a standardized test used for the evaluation of students seeking admission in some business school. A graduate management education gives you the skills, preparation, and credentials you need to accelerate your career growth.
The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a 3-1/2 hour standardized exam designed to predict how test-takers will perform academically in MBA (Masters in Business Administration) programs. GMAT scores are used by graduate business schools to make admission decisions. High Score in GMAT increases the likelihood of your admission to the target business school.

GMAT CAT

You might also see the GMAT referred to as the "GMAT CAT"; the acronym CAT stands for "Computer Adaptive Test." The GMAT is administered only by computer now, except in certain locations outside North America, where the test is referred to as the "paper-based" GMAT. (Since you're reading this on the Web, no doubt the GMAT CAT is available where you are.)

Scheduling for GMAT

Schedule your appointment early, so scores can be reported before your application deadline. The GMAT exam is administered year-round and on demand at test centers around the world. Admission deadlines for graduate management programs (BBA and MBA offering universities and colleges) vary, so check with the university or college you’re interested in attending to make sure your GMAT exam appointment is early enough to allow your scores to be reported before the schools’ application deadline. Available time slots at test centers change continuously based on capacity and ongoing registration. You will find out which times are available at your chosen test center when you register.

Identify Yourself Correctly

When scheduling an appointment to take the GMAT exam, be sure the spelling of your name and your birth date exactly match the name and birth date printed on the identification you will present at your test center. If this information does not match, you will not be permitted to take the test and your test fee will be forfeited.

GMAT Score and Reporting

On the day you take the GMAT, before you begin the exam, you may select up to five (5) GMAT Programs to receive your Official Score Report. Once you have made your selections, you will not be able to change or delete them. A fee is required to send an Additional Score Report. Fee for additional score report = $28 each.

Score

The GMAT exam yields four scores: Verbal, Quantitative, Total, and Analytical Writing Assessment, which are reflected in your score report.
Each score is reported on a fixed scale and will appear on the official GMAT score reports that you and your designated score recipients (graduate management programs) receive. Your score report includes all GMAT scores from tests taken in the last five (5) years. The contact and demographic information that was required for you to register for the test will also appear on your score report.

Canceling Your Scores

Immediately after you complete the test—but before you view your scores—you will have the option to cancel your scores. You cannot cancel your scores after they are displayed or reported to you.
If You Cancel Your Scores:
  • Your scores cannot be reinstated.
  • You will not be eligible for a refund of any test fees.
  • The score cancellation will remain a part of your permanent record and will be reported on all future score reports.

If You Do NOT Cancel Your Scores:
  • You can choose to see and print a copy of your unofficial scores for the multiple-choice sections of the GMAT test (Quantitative, Verbal, and Total) at the test center.
  • An Official Score Report, including the scores for the Analytical Writing Assessment, will be made available to you and your designated GMAT using programs within 20 days after you take the test.
